Tareq Chowdhury is a lawyer. He is cross qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor. He is the Principal Solicitor of Kingdom Solicitors. He is an active member of Ilford Labour Party. He also edits the weekly Bangla Post, a bilingual newspaper for the last 15 years. He joined the Labour Party in 2006. Since joining he has been very active in the party. He stood for Councillor position in Redbridge in 2018 in Monkhams Ward and secured second position in the election. Before the election, Labour was in thrid position. He was also short-listed for three parliamentary constituencies in Croydon South, Epping Forst and Romford.





He has been a member of the Labour Party since 2006 and it has been an active member. He is the former Secretary of Cranbrook and Valentines Branch Labour Party and Assistant Secretary of Ilford South CLP. He represented Ilford South Labour Party in Labour Party Annual Conference as a delegate in 2017. He worked as a GC delegate from his branch for a number of years. He stood in the last council election in Monkhams ward in Redbridge and secured a second position when Labour party was in a third position for many years. He has worked as the Treasurer, Vice Chair and Secretary respectively of Little Ilford Branch under East Ham CLP.





Since joining the party, he has campaigned for various Local Government, Mayoral and Parliamentary Election. His campaign attendance is more than 90% of the total campaign. He has also worked for Sadiq Khan in the London Mayoral campaign from Phone Bank. He has campaigned for various councillor candidates in Redbridge in 2014 and 2018 council election. He assisted in writing placards during King George hospital’s A&E closure demonstration. He attended the last six Labour in Party annual conferences. He attended Party Annual Conference as Ilford South CLP delegate in 2017. He also attended London Labour Party Conference and BAME Labour party conference many times.





Tareq Chowdhury studied both in the UK and Bangladesh. He has completed his bachelor’s degree in law in Bangladesh and in the UK. He has completed the Bar Vocational Course from Wolverhampton University and was called to the Bar in 2004 from Lincoln’s Inn. He was an elected student representative at Northumbria University in which he represented Northumbria Univeristy to Lincoln’s Inn. He converted to becoming a Solicitor in 2011. Since then, he has been running his Solicitor’s firm called Kingdom Solicitors. He is an elected Vice President of London Bangla Press Club.





He has been actively campaigning on the doorstep on local grassroot issues. He campaigned in all the elections such as the local council election, national election, mayoral election and referendum by way of leafletting, door knocking and calling members. Therefore, he has a wealth of experience and expertise to be a Member of Parliament .





Since 2004, he regularly appeared on legal programmes as well as programmes on social issues, on ethnic TV channels.





He is widely known in the British Bangladeshi Community as a Lawyer and a Journalist. Tareq believes if he is selected as a candidate he will serve his community very well.
